Yearly Reminders (2021)
Social Distancing.
We must remain constantly aware of the dangers inherent in close personal contact. Keep your 6 foot separation at all times and do not share personal items. There are hand sanitizing stations throughout the fields and no one is allowed in the dugouts. Bring your own chair and place it along the fence - 6 Feet Apart. Keep your cooler, bats and gloves at your chair and sit there between innings.
# 1 Defibrillator: For those of you who don’t know, or don’t remember, the League has a defibrillator. The unit is kept on the PICNIC BENCH in front of the concession stand and Rest Rooms. It is then returned to the equipment shed by the last Manager leaving the fields on any given day. All Managers are asked to check and see that this is done.
Some members have received training on the unit . A new three year battery pack was installed during October of 2020. A recent check shows the battery should be replaced in October, 2023.
# 2 Base Coaches: The batting team MUST have a Coach (UMPIRE) at 1st Base and at 3rd Base. The role of the Coach is secondary, the primary role is as UMPIRE. The UMPIRES stand between us and anarchy !! 1st Base makes calls at Home and at 1st. 3rd Base makes calls at 2nd and 3rd.
All we ask is to be in position and pay attention.
# 3 Equipment: The League owns/provides a batters Home Plate, a runners Home Plate, a Pitchers Net and a Scoreboard for each of the four fields. The equipment is sometimes in place in the morning when we arrive, courtesy of the Park Staff. The Visiting Team is responsible for placing the equipment on the field if the Park Staff hasn't done so. It is the responsibility of the Home Team to bring the equipment back to the equipment shed at the end of the game. If we don’t pick up all the equipment we probably will lose items to the night leagues or vandalism which has occurred.
# 4 Uniforms: It is the players responsibility to wear a proper uniform shirt and hat. Home shirts are blue and Visitor shirts are gray. If you don’t have a uniform or you need separate items see Paul Gawel manager of the Reds.
# 5 Individual Equipment: Most bats are very expensive and fragile. The bats should not be thrown against the other bats or the fence. Also you should be reminded that when a player places a piece of red tape on his bat it is an indication that he does not want his bat used by other players. Bats should have owners name on them and always ask the owner for permission to use his/her bat. Players are encouraged to bring their own bats.
